Our Controller will assist Nickerson’s senior leadership team with business and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the agency. This role will manage Nickerson’s AR/AP and will be responsible for monthly account reconciliation. The role will be a majority remote position from Greater Boston, with some time spent in-person with Nickerson’s CEO. Through organization and communication, you will be responsible for managing confidential and time sensitive material and ensuring consistency in Nickerson’s policies and procedures.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Candidate must be a strong writer, thinker, and a well-connected communicator who understands how to engage with Nickerson’s client-partners and internal team
  • Communicate via phone and email to ensure timely receipt of payments from client-partners
  • Manage Nickerson’s accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP)
  • Manage monthly account reconciliation
  • Maintain a strong attention to detail
  • Assist Nickerson’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) with business pipeline management and reporting
  • Exercise strong judgement and ability to manage relationships, emails, and communications on behalf of Nickerson’s senior leadership team
  • Escalating questions, information, and concerns as appropriate to Nickerson’s team
  • Assist in the execution of Nickerson’s best practices, adhering to agency systems and processes
  • Maintain and develop contracts and financial schedules in Nickerson’s proprietary database
  • Prepare and deliver timely business reports for Nickerson’s senior leadership team
  • Participate in industry organizations
  • Represent Nickerson at various events
  • Foster a sense of culture across team and agency

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, and/or business management role required
  • Proficiency within Quickbooks
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business a plus
  • Proven success with accounting for a small/mid-sized, growing business
  • Advanced writing, verbal communications, presentation, and project management skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
  • Self-starter and team player willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done
  • Competence in Microsoft computer programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Teams and OneDrive experience a plus
  • Previous experience with project management software (e.g. Asana, Monday, etc.)
  • Experience managing a CRM (ideally Salesforce)

Location and Travel:

Team member will work fully remotely with some anticipated travel to meet with CEO and client-partners, attend industry events, etc.
